Our Impact

The impact we are creating isn’t an afterthought. It is something we are consciously thinking about and strategically planning for. We know long-term sustainability is not a sprint, but rather a relentless effort, filled with deliberate choices, and we are in it for the long-haul.

Our Model

Our livelihoods model is unique in that our creative partners earn per square inch of what they weave or per tile they emboss.  Their income is dependent on what they produce rather than on the final sale of products sold far from their village. This ensures sustainable income for our creative partners and gives us the flexibility to continue to adapt our products to fit the market. As women work from home at their own pace, they are able to set their own income goals. Naturally, women who have been with us longer are able to earn more as they are able to weave or emboss more quickly. New partners are encouraged as they make the same rate while learning as our experienced partners and they see the potential to earn more as they grow.

Hear From Our Creative Partners

To understand our impact in the lives of the women we partner with, we feel it is best for you to hear from them directly. We believe in empowering women to share their own stories rather than speaking on their behalf. We asked our creative partners about their involvement in Bhayli, and this is what they had to say…

  • "I have freedom at work now that I didn't have before."

    Urmila Devi

  • “The project has altered our lives since this work gives confidence. It also gives me financial support, for me to be able to study."

    Nikita

  • "This employment brings us satisfaction, a sense of freedom, and confidence; it is not just about the money. I want to advance our cause, and I feel like telling people on a bigger stage."

    Mamta

  • "This opportunity is ideal for women, as it allows them to work comfortably from home."

Our Values

Innovation

Creating something beautiful and functional from waste requires innovation at every step of the process. It requires an initial boldness to think outside of the box, as well as a continuous curiosity to learn from our mistakes in order to adapt and improve.

Zero Dump

We care about our impact on the environment. As we design and create products, we promote a circular economy that maximizes resource efficiency by using waste as a raw material, recapturing the scraps we produce to be used as a resource, and recycling scraps that are too small to be used for anything else.

Collaboration

We affirm that everyone has something valuable to share from their own worldview, life experience, niche interests, and passions. Collaborating means listening, valuing, and learning from these diverse perspectives which have the potential to be our greatest strength as we work together.

Empathy

We value people and their stories. We care about them holistically, not only in the ways they are connected to us. Empathy helps us understand our team as well as our customers by putting ourselves in their shoes and feeling what they feel. We want to respect everyone as a whole person.

We take “Zero-Dump” Seriously

At Bhayli, we believe that responsibility extends beyond product creation to encompass the life cycle and packaging of a product. We are dedicated to the safe delivery of our products to you and take full responsibility for any waste generated in this process. To ensure the protection of fragile items during transit, we use recyclable foam for cushioning.

While we remain optimistic that our recyclable foam and other bio-degradable packaging materials will be properly recycled, we acknowledge the existing challenges in waste management across various communities. Recognizing the need for collective efforts to improve waste segregation and management, we are committed to contributing to the creation of more sustainable communities.

With the resources to properly manage segregated waste through our parent company, ECOWRAP, we will cover the shipping costs for you to send our packaging waste back to us. We believe in fostering a closed-loop system where waste becomes a resource. If you don’t have a way to reuse or recycle our packaging waste in your area, kindly consider following the steps below to ensure it doesn’t end up in a landfill. Thank you for joining us in our journey towards a more environmentally conscious and responsible future.

Mission

To provide rural women with the training, resources, and support needed to create up-cycled products that help them secure financial independence and help others see the potential of waste.

Vision

To empower women from rural areas through opportunities in up-cycling to lead the way in bringing waste back into the value chain to create dump-free cities and sustainable communities.

Sustainable Development Goals

  • Our focus is on improving living standards of women earning less than ₹156 per day. We are focused on providing work-from-home livelihood opportunities and access to the resources they need to create up-cycled raw material that generates sustainable wages for themselves and their families.

  • We provide skills training to women in rural communities where they traditionally have been prevented from joining the work force. We champion their creativity and help them to secure work opportunities which lead to self-confidence and financial independence.

  • Through our partnership with ECOWRAP we are ensuring that waste materials don't get dumped in landfills which contaminate water sources. Our creative partners are making products from those waste materials, bringing them back into the value chain and extending their life outside of water polluting landfills.

  • We care about the holistic well-being of our creative partners. We are committed to ensuring that women have access to all of the equipment, information, and resources they need to work safely. The flexibility to work from their own homes offers them freedom to pursue other family responsibilities. We are careful stewards of the stories of our creative partners and represent them in ways that bring them dignity.

  • We create new products using waste materials in order to bring waste back into the value chain. All scraps and extra materials that are not used are returned and recycled through ECOWRAP. We work with creative partners who have a similar vision for responsible production. All of our products are wrapped and sent off in biodegradable packaging materials.

  • We are applying the concept of "reverse migration" by providing work opportunities in rural communities in order to build resilient societies and economies in villages where our creative partners reside. We are actively strengthening the social and environmental links between urban rural areas.

  • By up-cycling source-segregated waste materials, we are preventing waste from entering landfills and creating landfill gas emissions that are directly impacting biodiversity, the environment, and our quality of life.
