Basanti Devi is a determined creative, and mother of four. It is often her handiwork that brings the final touch of color to our Trash-to-Tile products. With fewer opportunities to focus on the intricate details of embroidery work she once enjoyed as her eyesight has declined, she quickly embraced the opportunity to teach and mentor others in the tricks of the trade and stitch on the cans she hand-punches herself. She has enjoyed the opportunity to work alongside her daughters who also look up to her. What truly sets Basanti Devi apart is her remarkable ability to work while walking. “The thought of sitting idle at home makes me feel restless.” Supported by her loving husband, who shares her belief in the importance of continuing to work, the unique flexibility of Bhayli empowers her to pursue her craft wherever she goes.
